The cost of a tiny home can be as low as $20,000 for a budget-friendly build to $200,000 for a high-end luxury build. Tiny homes in New Zealand vary in price depending on the size, quality, and any additional add-ons.

For example, our very own Podlife Pods range from $26,995 inc GST for a 10m2 Pod to $159,990 inc GST for a 34m2 Tiny Home with a double bedroom, generous wardrobe storage, bathroom with an amazing shower, living area, full-sized kitchen with an oven, and much more.

Your KiwiSaver can only be used to purchase land for your tiny home. As tiny homes are easily transportable, they are considered to be a vehicle and therefore an ineligible dwelling for Kiwisaver withdrawal. You could, however, be eligible for a First Home Grant of up to $10,000 to help offset the cost of your land.

To obtain a mortgage for a tiny home, you'll need to prove to the bank that your structure is not transportable. The bank will want assurance that there is potential for your home to increase in value to reduce the risk of lending.
