5 Ways to Get the Most out of a Small Bedroom

Ideally, your bedroom will have enough space to store personal items and give you room to relax and feel at home. However, this isn’t always the case. When you’ve got limited space, creating a bedroom that does all the things you need it to can be quite the challenge. It’s easy to give up style in place of storage and functionality, but we’re here to tell you that you can have both.

 Storage is your friend

Having a good storage system in place is essential to making the most of any small space. Incorporating storage under the bed is a fantastic way of saving precious space in a small room. Slat beds are great for this as they usually leave space under the bed where you can store a variety of items.

Add built-in shelving

If you can, adding built-in shelving to a room is a great way to maximise space. Instead of trying to cram furniture into the existing space, you’re creating bespoke storage that fits your room perfectly. Building around the bedhead is a popular idea that works well in any small bedroom. Similarly, getting custom-built furniture is a great way to maximise your small space.

Use a day bed

A day bed is a great multifunctional way to get the most out of any small room. A day bed can help create the illusion of a small sitting room, rather than a room that has been taken over by a bed. Day beds often have built-in storage underneath too.

Use natural light

In any small space, it’s important to make the most of natural lighting. While you should try to avoid blocking natural light if you can, it’s not always possible. In some cases, the only place for a bed or other item of furniture will be in front of the window. Use furniture that still lets light in—like a metal bed frame rather than a solid headboard.

Use mirrors

Mirrors are another great way to create the illusion of more space and more natural light. A mirrored wall or wardrobe will visually double the space in a room. Even better, there are virtually no rules when it comes to placing mirrors.
