Interior Design Trends

Thanks to the internet (with Pinterest mostly to blame), international trends are hitting
our shores, and our stores a whole lot quicker.
Stay ahead of the game by including some of these new trends in your Pod:

Cork

Cork may be something that you only associate with the top of a wine bottle, but it is
quickly becoming a big trend for interiors. This eco-friendly material brings a warm hue
and adds texture to spaces. Try pairing cork with neutral colours and textures such as
glass, metal and ceramics. If you want to go all out, consider lining a whole wall with
cork; this can then be used to pin photos, posters and notes.

Terracotta

Warmer toned textures, such as terracotta, are set to replace the currently popular crisp
white tones. Try including terracotta accents with a matte finish to add some character
and to give it a warm and natural feel. Terracotta vases, bowls or jugs make great
statement pieces and are a great way to bring this trend into your Pod.

Jewel Tones

Pastel shades are on their way out, and darker, jewel inspired tones are coming in.
These colours are inspired by precious metals and gems – think rich sapphire blues,
ruby reds and amethyst purples. Push this trend a step further by including not only
jewel colours but also jewel textures to add interesting shapes and a bit of sparkle.

Escapism

In the midst of our busy lives, the idea of escapism has burst onto the scene as a big
interior trend. This trend involves creating beautiful little nooks and crannies that act as
a peaceful place to just sit and escape from what is going on in the world around you.
These nooks should be cosy and inviting – pillows and throw blankets make a great
addition. Try using a Pod as your place of ‘escapism’, a place separate from your home
where you can go to relax and unwind.
