Design trends used to take years to make their way around the world, but now we have access to overseas trends in an instant. This year is all about feeling comfortable in your own space and not following design rules from decades past. If you’re in need of some inspiration, we’ve put together a list of our favourite 2017 design trends below:
With the future of the world uncertain, the home is being seen as a haven and a safe space more than ever. With your home as your sanctuary, you’ll want to create a warm and cosy space away from the pressures of the outside world. More and more people are beginning to work from home too. This means that creating homes rather than a transient living space is more important than ever. It looks like our passion for home improvement isn’t going anywhere in 2017!

Eclectic interiors are on the rise in 2017. You don’t need to adhere to style rules anymore. After all, it’s important that your home is uniquely you—that it reflects your own needs, your story and your style. Say goodbye to minimalism and embrace a more lived-in look this year.

Fabric is any easy way to update your décor and there are some great fabrics that are on trend in 2017. Think linen, heavy cotton, hemp and wool. Raw fabrics, frayed edges, fringes and tassels are also something to look out for (forget tidy hems!). This natural fibre trend also extends to furniture. Wicker chairs are an easy update for any space. We’re predicting that reeds, rattan, jute, cane, seagrass and bamboo will also enjoy popularity this year in furniture, lighting, and as decorative pieces.

With homes getting cosier, it only makes sense that softness is on trend. This means soft textures but also soft shapes, with comfortable, less-structured shapes becoming more popular. Warm metallics and crystals are also here to stay.
